Street Food Hits SBM!

Street Food Hits SBM!

We’ve had some new vendors join our foodie haven…

If you’ve passed through the market recently, you may have noticed we’ve had some incredible new additions serving up nothing but steaming hot & delicious street food.

There’s no denying the incredible aroma that has been filling the market since our latest vendors China Wok opened. Serving out onto Goldhawk Road, they’ve fast become a local favourite…

Having joined us from the Truman Brewery, China Wok are serving up street food cult classics like sweet and sour chicken to spicy beef with your choice of noodles or fried rice. Any true street food fanatic will know that the trend originated from the delicious Chinese delicacies you could pick up on the go through any one of London’s markets, and we’re happy to have one of the pioneers right here on our doorstep.

With a small box for £4 and a large for £5, you can mix and match to your hearts content. Filled right to the brim, they’ll ensure you’re getting your money’s worth! Open 6 days a week, China Wok serve directly onto the main road, so they’ll be open even when we’re not!

If you’re after something a little unique, we’re elated to have welcomed Nepalese Street Food into the community, in the form of Momo Hut..

After spending years working in the events & catering industry, Momo Huts owner, Bimala, found there was a serious gap in the market for the delicacies from her home country. She wasn’t wrong, serving up steaming hot dumplings and a selection of incredible curries, Momo Hut has been an instant success!

With options for both vegetarians and meat lovers, Bimala assures us the secret is in her spices, which you are sure not to find anywhere else. Each dish is served up with your choice of their secret sauces, which seems to be what has got the locals hooked!

So, if you’re craving a taste of something exotic, we recommend making your way down to see these ladies. We mean, come on, 8 dumplings from as little as £3.. how could you say no?

In the form of a bright orange gazebo located near the Goldhawk Road entrance, our mouths have been drooling and tummies well fed since welcoming Urban Okra into the market…

Urban Okra will be here for the rest of the week, and given that our customers continue showering them with the love their food deserves, possibly throughout summer too!!

Run by sisters Susanne and Alexandra, we just loved what TGWBS added to the market. Selling wholegrain bakes, the family recipes went down a treat with customers and traders alike. Exceeding even their own expectations, they sold out of bread only half way through their first day! We asked the siblings how they found their time here; We had a very good time at your market. We can see the potential for us here as many customers were very interested in our products and the variety. The ambience is very nice and friendly and it seems that the customers enjoy strolling through.”

The German Wholegrain Baker’s Shop will hopefully be making a comeback soon, so keep an eye on our twitter!

Wowshee’s

Wowshee's at Shepherd's Bush Market

Sister brand to The Beledi Kitchen, ‘Wowshee’s’ is a new street food concept that has taken Shepherd’s Bush by storm. A unique twist on Egyptian street food, these sizzling sandwiches are prepared fresh everyday, with your choice of meat (beef or chicken) or vegetarian – they also serve up an amazing Nutella Wowshee which is not to be missed! So we asked owner, Adam Eleshi, how has the experience been so far?; “As a trading company the Beledi team have found it very easy to settle in. We found existing traders very supportive and an excellent management team that has helped us every step of the way.”

Heavenly Crepes

Serving up some amazing creations Heavenly Crepes were hugely popular within the market. Not a moment went by during their first day that they weren’t busy, exceeding their expectations by a mile!

Owner Kaz said ‘We had a great day, we’ll be back with some exciting new crepe creations’ – and so they did, they immediately signed up for the day after!

Richie's - Arch 186

Richie’s – Arch 186

If you’ve had a chance to swing by Shepherd’s Bush Market recently, you would’ve noticed a very exciting new renovation taking place… An unused arch sat outside of the market manager’s office has finally been transformed into a stunning, modern and chic cafe! Serving up quite the selection of fresh food cooked on site, ‘Richie’s’ has already taken off as a huge hit amongst customers and traders alike! We spoke to owner Richie Abalayan to find out more…

Tell us a little about yourself; Well, my name is Richie, I’m 48 years old and I’m a professional chef. I worked full time for many years before deciding it was time to set up my own business, so, with my wife Leony by my side, that’s exactly what I’ve done!

What food do you have on offer? Oh, we have lots on offer, everyday we’re serving up barbecue cooked right outside so you can expect burgers and some great grilled meats every day. On top of that, one of our main focus here is our fusion of Filipino and Asian cuisine, it’s served up everyday but we also hold buffets on the weekends. One of our best sellers right now is a traditional Filipino breakfast dish called ‘Tapsilog’, ‘Tapa’ translates to fried beef, ‘Si’ to fried rice and ‘log’ to egg – and that’s exactly what it is!  All of our meat is halal too, so everyone can eat here.

Do have dessert options? Yes, of course, we have waffles that you wouldn’t believe! Our most popular is our decadent chocolate, it’s a chocolate chip waffle which has molten chocolate inside so it melts in the middle when you eat it. Served up with chocolate and vanilla ice cream, drizzled in hot fudge sauce!

What’s the most unique thing you have on offer? Definitely ‘Halo Halo’, it’s a Filipino dessert which directly translates to ‘Mix Mix’. It’s essentially our traditional sundae, it’s shaved ice mixed with sweetened beans, palm seeds, cooked plantain, flavoured rice krispies, condensed milk, ice cream, cocoa jelly, shredded melon and much more! Trust me, it’s not famous in the Philippines for nothing, you’ll love it!

Halo Halo

Halo Halo

Why did you choose Shepherd’s Bush Market? For it’s diversity and broad cultural mix of customer, we knew this was the place for us. It’s a great place to set up our kind of business.

How has it been so far? It’s been buzzing here, we’ve been busy every day. Many customers and traders have said we’re serving up the best food they’ve ever had!

Richie's serve up some great off menu healthy options too - just ask!

What do you have in store for us?  Fresh food cooked on site every day. We’re always bringing in new dishes too, we have a Chef’s special every day. Today’s is beef brisket soup cooked with plantain and cabbage. You can come and enjoy a delicious meal in our summer garden right outside!

Any fun facts for us? We actually buy our meat from the butchers in the market. We’ve been a huge hit with the traders, one of our neighbours picks up one of our burgers for his son EVERY day – apparently, he’s addicted to them!

So be sure to show our latest business some love and pay them a visit. We’re sure you’ll be leaving with a happy tummy!

Richie’s is located in Arch 186, close to the Goldhawk Road entrance.

West London’s Street Food Love Affair Continues

If you live anywhere near Shepherd’s Bush Market, or are in the know about London’s street food scene, then you’ve probably heard of Feast.

Earlier this summer we announced that Feast had set up a new sister event, Little Feast, in Shepherd’s Bush Yard right by the Goldhawk Road end of our market. Well they’ve now decided to stay a longer than was initially planned!

So if you’ve not wined and dined at Little Feast yet, or you have and loved it, there’s still a chance for you to regularly treat yourself to some great food, drinks, and music (check out the clip above of Little Feast in all its yummy glory).

As you can see from the video, Little Feast have eye-catching huts that each serve amazingly delicious food from around the world, and an indoor bar area, dubbed The Arch, to keep you warm when the days are shorter – what more do you need for a fab night out?

Come on by and be a part of the movement that’s making West London’s street food scene just that little bit more exciting.
