Being A Vegeterian Isn’t As Hard As You Think..

Thanks to the market, that is.

Many of us decided to cut meat this year, whether it was to jump on Veganuary or just to clean up our diets, for most of us meatless Monday turned into a meatless month. We may be nearing the end of January, and the cliche of ‘New Year, New Me’ may be an almost distant memory, but we’re here to remind you that you that thanks to our amazing food vendors, sticking to it can be just as easily done as said…

One thing we’re definitely not short of in the market is Vegetarian meal alternatives. We’re world renowned for some of the best falafel in the nation and with new comers like Momo Hut our meatless offer is only continuing to grow. So here’s our top pick for the meatless munchies;

Newcomers Momo Hut, entered the market and took the town by storm. With an extensive Vegetarian and vegan menu, they’ve quickly become a local favourite with their unique introduction of Nepalese delicacies. They’re stocked daily with a wide range of meat & dairy free options including Potato & chickpea curries, salads, dumplings, pakora sandwiches (YUM) and a wide range of Nepalese nibbles they’ve definitely made a huge impression – so much so they even received a raving review from famous comedian, Seann Walsh!

Find them and their delicious fare in Pitch 50, close to the Goldhawk Road entrance.

Now, it’s a debate as long as time as to which of our vendors makes the best falafel, all with their own unique spin on the fried, doughy delicacy the one thing we can all agree on, is that they’re all pretty damn good. Cafe 2000 serve up fresh green falafels daily, The Grill Master have mastered the falafel wrap and The Falafel Hut makes some pretty tasty grilled pittas stuffed with all the trimmings – grilled aubergines, pickles, tahini and a stellar green chilli sauce. Believe us when we tell you that if you eat one of these, you’ll forget why you ever ate meat in the first place.

Find them here;

Run by sisters Susanne and Alexandra, we just loved what TGWBS added to the market. Selling wholegrain bakes, the family recipes went down a treat with customers and traders alike. Exceeding even their own expectations, they sold out of bread only half way through their first day! We asked the siblings how they found their time here; We had a very good time at your market. We can see the potential for us here as many customers were very interested in our products and the variety. The ambience is very nice and friendly and it seems that the customers enjoy strolling through.”

The German Wholegrain Baker’s Shop will hopefully be making a comeback soon, so keep an eye on our twitter!

Wowshee's at Shepherd's Bush Market

Sister brand to The Beledi Kitchen, ‘Wowshee’s’ is a new street food concept that has taken Shepherd’s Bush by storm. A unique twist on Egyptian street food, these sizzling sandwiches are prepared fresh everyday, with your choice of meat (beef or chicken) or vegetarian – they also serve up an amazing Nutella Wowshee which is not to be missed! So we asked owner, Adam Eleshi, how has the experience been so far?; “As a trading company the Beledi team have found it very easy to settle in. We found existing traders very supportive and an excellent management team that has helped us every step of the way.”

Heavenly Crepes

Serving up some amazing creations Heavenly Crepes were hugely popular within the market. Not a moment went by during their first day that they weren’t busy, exceeding their expectations by a mile!

Owner Kaz said ‘We had a great day, we’ll be back with some exciting new crepe creations’ – and so they did, they immediately signed up for the day after!

Street Feed

Our latest pop up trader Street Feed has been serving up the best jerk chicken this side of town for the last few weekends. Serving up burgers, wraps and rice dishes this Caribbean cuisine is not to be missed. With over 7 sauces from sweet to spicy, and a range of dishes to suit everyone’s taste, they’ve settled in so well they’ve signed on indefinitely…
