Internet sensation John Quilter, famously known as the Food Busker, has opened his first street kitchen in the heart of our historical market.

You may be familiar with the Food Busker, either you’re one of his 16 million viewers, one of the tens of thousands of people who follow his food journey across social media OR familiar with the many collaborations he’s taken part in with the Jamie Oliver, and If not, you’re in for a treat. Famed for his spectacular culinary skills this innovative chef has made a name for himself by cooking up some stellar grub and allowing the general public to decide what it’s worth, and we’re elated to be the home of his latest street kitchen.

Having run businesses for Raymond Blanc and sir Terence Conran as well as operating his own Michelin listed, award winning brasserie, Marmalade, it’s safe to say John is the crème de la crème when it comes to gastronomy. This accomplished chef has consulted for some of the most prestigious London institutions, including The Ivy, Le Caprice and Soho House as well as hosting numerous food stages at Taste of London, Big Feastival and the Good Food Show.

Now located in Shop 28 and renovated from an old butchers unit, the latest addition to the market sees an open space, rustic street kitchen where you can expect nothing but the finest recipes being tested and ‘busked’ throughout the surrounding area. Kicking things off with a succulent porchetta, filming will be carried out every Friday and everyone’s invited!

The Food Busker had filmed his episode of Japanese Steak in one of our pop up spaces last November, and we’re happy to hear that we made enough of an impression that he’s come back for a semi permanent residency.

Every Friday will see a new and exciting dish being cooked up in the market and passers by are welcome to have a seat to watch the master at work. With over 145000 YouTube subscribers, John is inviting YOU to be a part of the show and get yourselves down to the kitchen to give your view on his culinary skills. Be prepared though, you will have to give your view on how much you think it’s worth – we definitely want to keep him.. so be generous, yeah?
